Recalling the moment he approached her for the role of Daadi, Amitabh Bachchan’s mother in the film, Karan emphasized the regal presence he envisioned for the character. Waheeda Rehman graciously accepted the role without hesitation. The production commenced, and scenes, including her appearance in the title track, were shot.

However, unforeseen circumstances led to her unexpected departure from the project. Despite this setback, Karan Johar treasures the moments shared on set. Reflecting on the brief collaboration, he stated, “But I still treasure those few shots I have of Waheeda ji. At least I can say when I have to go down memory lane and say that I did work with the legend Waheeda Rehman.”
