Anant Ambani, Mukesh Ambani’s youngest son, will soon wed Radhika Merchant, daughter of businessman Viren Merchant and entrepreneur Shaila Merchant. The opulent pre-wedding ceremonies are scheduled in Jamnagar, Gujarat, drawing attention to the city. Anant Ambani recently disclosed the rationale behind selecting Jamnagar for the celebrations.
In an interview with India Today, Anant Ambani, the 28-year-old scion of Reliance Industries, shared that his decision aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Wed In India” initiative. He also revealed the personal connection, citing his grandmother’s birthplace and the roots of his family’s business in the town.
“This is my grandmother’s birthplace and the workplace of my grandfather Dhirubhai Ambani and father Mukesh Ambani. Growing up here, it’s a privilege to celebrate in this city. It’s a matter of pride to heed our PM’s call to marry in India. This is my home,” expressed Anant Ambani.
He added, “My father often refers to this as my grandfather’s in-laws’ house, hence the celebration here. I also consider myself a citizen of Jamnagar.”
Earlier, celebrity couple Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani shifted their wedding venue to Goa, echoing the PM’s ‘wed in India’ message.
Tech luminaries like Mark Zuckerberg, Sundar Pichai, and Bob Iger, along with Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Manushi Chhillar, are expected to grace the festivities. A lineup of star performers including Arijit Singh, Diljit Dosanjh, Rihanna, Ajay-Atul, and B Praak will infuse energy into the event.
