Dinesh Phadnis, renowned for his portrayal of Fredricks (Freddy) in the popular crime show CID, has passed away due to liver damage. The news was confirmed by his co-star, Dayanand Shetty, who stated, “Dinesh breathed his last at 12.08 am.” While there were initial reports of a heart attack, Shetty refuted those claims, mentioning, “It is a different treatment, and I wouldn’t like to comment on it.”
CID, a long-running and iconic crime show, had become synonymous with characters like ACP Pradyuman, played by Shivaji Satam. Back in 2018, when the sudden decision to end CID was announced, Satam expressed shock, stating, “It is like someone has cut off an organ from our body.” Satam, who was shooting for a Marathi film at the time, planned to discuss the future with the CID team upon his return to Mumbai, unsure about the fate of the completed episodes given the channel’s abrupt decision.
