Ever since the release of Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva in 2022, fans have been eagerly anticipating the sequel, Deva. The buzz around the casting for the character of Dev has been a hot topic of speculation. Reports hinted at Ranveer Singh’s possible involvement, and now, according to a reliable source from News18 Showsha, the actor has officially agreed to take on the role in the upcoming film.

Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva, featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, not only introduced the captivating Astraverse but also became the highest-grossing film of 2022. Among various fan theories about the sequel, the portrayal of Dev, Shiva’s father, has been a focal point.

After much speculation surrounding actors like Hrithik Roshan, Yash, and Ranveer Singh, the exclusive source revealed that one theory has proven correct. Director Ayan Mukerji has selected Ranveer Singh to portray Dev in the highly anticipated second installment of the Brahmastra series.

The Dil Dhadakne Do actor has reportedly signed the contract for the role. While the script is currently in development, production for Brahmastra 2 is expected to commence in 2025. Ayan Mukerji is presently occupied with War 2, and Ranveer is gearing up for Baiju Bawra later this year. The exact start date for Brahmastra 2 remains uncertain.

If all goes as planned, Ranveer Singh is set to begin filming Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s project in mid-2024. Initially scheduled for an early 2025 start, Brahmastra Part 2 might see a delay as rumors suggest the beginning of Don 3 around the same time. Notably, Deepika Padukone is confirmed to play Amrita, Shiva’s mother, in the first part of the franchise.

This development brings an interesting dynamic, marking the first instance where two real-life Bollywood couples, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, along with Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, will share the screen in a film. Despite attempts to seek comments, director Ayan Mukerji remained unavailable for a response.
