Selena Gomez is considering leaving Instagram once again. In a now-deleted Instagram Story on November 2, the 31-year-old Rare Beauty founder shared her frustration with her 430 million followers. She wrote, “I’m taking a break and deleting my Instagram. I’m done. I do not support any of what’s going on.” Even though the Instagram story was quickly removed, her account remained active at the time of this article.

Selena’s decision came just four days after she used Instagram to express her thoughts on the Gaza conflict. She mentioned, “I’ve been taking a break from social media because my heart breaks to see all of the horror, hate, violence, and terror that’s going on in the world.” She called for the protection of all people, particularly children, and an end to violence. She acknowledged that her words might not satisfy everyone but emphasized her desire to prevent innocent people from getting hurt.

Her stance on the conflict was met with criticism from some, as they felt it was too neutral, given her immense Instagram following and her recent “like” on a pro-Israel post by comedian Amy Schumer. Some argued that celebrities should take a more outspoken position rather than a neutral one due to their influence.

If Selena does delete her Instagram account, it won’t be the first time she’s taken a step back from the platform. In a 2019 interview, she explained her reservations about social media, particularly for her generation, describing it as having a negative impact on society.
